A dark modern house in a pine wood, with a fire court at dusk

Concept renders

Fire court · Pine wood · Evening palette

Render

Location: Kyiv region
Client: Confidential
Paving: Dark basalt, gravel fire court, stepping stones in the lawn
Features: Sunken fire pit, curved retaining walls, pergola walkway, swing

The constraint

A plot inside an old pine wood, with every tree protected and a house in dark timber and stone that did not want a bright, manicured garden around it.

The decision

The garden keeps the palette of the house: dark paving, charcoal walls, deep greens and one burst of magnolia and red maple. A curved wall holds the lawn above the fire court, so the fire sits in a hollow out of the wind, and a pergola walkway runs along the house to the forest.

The detail

Lawn runs right up to the trunks with no edging, and the stepping stones are set in groundcover, so the garden reads as a clearing rather than a lot.
