Work on gardens that start from a blank sheet

Atelier Verte is a small international team: designers trained in different schools on different continents, drawing private gardens, estates and rooftop terraces for clients in New York and across the United States. We are growing slowly and on purpose, one person at a time.

How We Work

What it is like inside the atelier

Every project is argued over by several designers before anything reaches the client. The drawing set goes to construction-document standard, so your work is built from, not admired and shelved. Most of the team works remotely; the studio meets in New York for site visits, reviews and the occasional dinner.

01

Argue, then draw

Ideas are debated in the studio first. You will be asked to defend a plan and to let go of it when someone else's is better. The client sees only the version that won.

02

Detail is the job

Joint widths, base build-ups, the plant that still looks right in February. We spend our time at the scale the client lives at, and we expect you to enjoy that.

03

Remote by default

Survey, photographs and video are how most projects begin. Work from where you draw best; be reachable across the New York working day.

Open Roles

Who we are looking for

No openings are posted with a closing date. We hire when the right person appears, so an unsolicited portfolio is welcome at any time.

I.

Landscape Designer

Remote or New York · Project based or ongoing

Master plans, planting, paving and lighting plans to construction-document standard. You have built, or watched being built, what you draw. AutoCAD or Vectorworks, and a portfolio that shows decisions, not only pictures.

III.

Project Coordinator

New York · Part time to start

Site visits, surveys, contractor bids and schedules in the New York metro area. You read a drawing set, speak to a contractor in his language and keep a client informed without being asked.

How To Apply

Send us three things

01

A portfolio

PDF or a link. Five projects at most. For each one, two sentences on what the constraint was and what you decided.

02

One drawing

A sheet you are proud of, at full resolution. A planting plan, a paving detail, a section. We read drawings more carefully than letters.

03

A short note

Where you are, how you like to work and what you would want to learn here. No cover letter, no template.

Write to hello@atelierverte.com with the subject line "Portfolio". Everyone who sends a real portfolio gets a real reply within a week.
